Church donates 60 coats to children

Turner Elementary School students try on their donated coats for the first time.

Members of a local church visited an East Albany elementary school Thursday afternoon to bring smiles to the faces of some children.

Members of U.S. 19 Church of Christ gave 60 students at Turner Elementary School coats for the cold winter months.

"We chose to partner with Turner Elementary to help the parents and students in the east side," said Velvet Riggins, church member and DCSS board member.

The church has been involved in helping lower income areas for the past five years and hope to continue in the years to come, according to Riggins.
