Christmas events leading up to the big day

For FOX 31's Facebook story of the day people in southwest Georgia wanted to know if there are any upcoming Christmas events planned for downtown Albany.

For theater buffs, the Theater of Albany is running "The Little Town of Christmas" up until Sunday, December 16th.

On the 20th, Albany Parks and Recreation will eat Christmas dinner with grandparents at the Lockett Station Community Center.

A few days later on Saturday, December 22nd, Albany residents are invited to join Santa for breakfast at the Flint Riverquarium. On the same day a U-Save-It Christmas Basketball Tournament will be held at the Albany Civic Center.

The city of Albany will shut down for Christmas day, but the Albany Rescue Mission will serve Christmas dinner for anyone who wants to attend. Church service will start at 12:30 PM and dinner will follow afterwards at 12:30 PM.

Officials with the Rescue Mission say patrons can expect a full dinner with all the trimmings.

Dinner will be served on both Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
