Officials at the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce have confirmed that current President and CEO Catherine Glover has turned in her resignation.
According to a press release, Glover stepped down to pursue a new career at Equinox Chemicals, Inc. She will stay on through January 4, 2012 before going to work for the local organic synthesis research and manufacturing company as its "Executive Vice President of Global Business Development".
"After 22 years in Chamber management, I have the opportunity to explore a new career without leaving the town I love, and working for a company that believes in Albany as much as I do," said Glover.
The press release also indicated that the Chamber Executive Board has appointed Bobby McKinney as the Interim President and CEO. He is a past chairman of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce Board, past chairman of the Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission, current Albany Area Chamber Vice President of Tourism and past president of the Dougherty County Rotary Club. "The Chamber and this community have been a huge part of my life. I am happy to fill in until the right person is found. However, I need to make it clear that I am not giving up retirement, this is just an interim position", McKinney says.
The Chamber has established a search committee, and will be finalizing the job posting within the next week. The posting will be listed in print and online publications such as the Georgia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (GACCE) and the American Society of Association Executives (ACCE).
