CASA volunteers honored
Saturday, Chehaw hosted a kickoff celebration of volunteer week--honoring Court Appointed Special Advocates.
A Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA , is a volunteer appointed by a judge to speak up for the best interests of an abused, neglected, or abandoned child involved in a juvenile court deprivation proceeding.
Officials say these volunteers are so special since they give their time to local children and are not paid for it.
CASA works closely with the Lily Pad Center, helping local victims of physical and sexual abuse.
