      CASA asking for volunteers

Albany's branch of Court Appointed Special Advocates (C.A.S.A.) say they are looking for a few good people. They say they're need of volunteers who are passionate about working with children.

Court Appointed Special Advocates work under the umbrella of the Lilly Pad, a non-profit organization.

Right now C.A.S.A is collaborating with the Albany Junior League and holding a luggage drive in the honor Janaysia Stevenson. The 19-month-old toddler was beaten to death earlier this year.

We're calling this project Janaysia Joy. We have luggage for each child in foster care because usually when they leave their home they have to put their clothes in a brown paper bag and really if they had their own luggage it will make them feel better, said C.A.S.A Program Director Evelyn Cookley.

Cookley says Sherwood Baptist Church donated a series of brand new luggage for the children. She says she's hoping more people find it in their hearts to give.

If you would like to donate to the C.A.S.A program or the Janaysia Joy luggage drive make a call to (229) 435-0074. Ask for Evelyn Cookley or Jershawn Roberts, the volunteer coordinator.
