Around 2:45 AM Friday morning the Albany Police Department responded to the Riverside Cemetary on Jackson Street.
A 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis had crashed through the gate surrounding the cemetary and damaged over five headstones.
Offiicals with the Parks and Recreation Department told FOX 31 the responsibility will fall on the city and they will have to pay for damage to the gate and headstones since the cemetary is owned by the city.
FOX 31 also spoke to residents about what happened and got their reaction; all of them said they would be devastated if this happened to them and they're glad the city is going to pay for damage, they feel the families are already dealing with enough.Stay connected to MySouthWestGA.com as stories develop and the FOX 31 Newscast at 10 PM.
