Passerby say there were a scary few moments in Doerun on Monday morning after a car's engine exploded, causing it to catch fire just feet from active gas pumps.
Kirk DeKalb says he owns a business right near the Petro Station and looked outside after hearing sirens to see a car with a small fire under the hood.
Within seconds, DeKalb says that fire quickly grew before the volunteer fire department was able to put it out.
The gas station owner reportedly cut off the pumps to make sure the situation didn't become more serious.
FOX 31 reached out to the Doerun Volunteer Fire Department for more information but they haven't yet returned our calls.
