Under certain circumstances, an officer in an unmarked car can pull you over.

But what should you do if you're unsure if they're an officer?

Under the law, you are allowed to find a safe location to stop. Find a well-lit or a busy area to pull over.

APD says there are a few things to look for if you’re pulled over by an unmarked police car.

Sergeant Richard Norman says, “Does it appear to be a professional looking police officer? Is there a badge of office distinctly present? Can you see the badge of office? Are the lights professionally put on the car or are they just slapped on the vehicle?"

These are somethings to keep in mind. If you're unsure if it's really the police, you can call 911 to determine if it's a real officer.

In the state of Georgia, all unmarked police cars are required to have a badge in the windshield.
