Businesses cash-in on school spending
Albany State University held its Annual Family Reunion and Business Showcase Friday afternoon to welcome back faculty.
As educators and students return, local vendors are making their presence in the community known.
This past year Albany State had a multi-million dollar impact on the southwest Georgia economy.
Vendors from SunTrust Bank, Chehaw and the Flint Riverquarium participated in the showcase.
"In the upcoming year, these vendors are going to receive a tremendous economic impact from Albany State students, faculty and staff," said Dr. Chanta Haywood, with Albany State University's Research and Sponsored Programs.
Orientation for students will start next week.
