Bullied Worth County teen passes away
Family and friends of Dustin Hammonds have confirmed that he passed away at 2:44 p.m. Monday afternoon at Eggleston Children Hospital in Atlanta.
A family friend tells FOX 31 that Hammonds' grandparents and godmother were with him when he passed away.
The Worth County teen attempted to take his life Monday, December 9, 2013.
According to those close to the teen, he was an eighth grader at Worth County Middle School who was being bullied for some time.
A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Dustin Hammonds at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Tanya Paramore, one of the organizers for "Justice for Dustin", students, community members and supporters of the Justice for Dustin Facebook page will wear blue, a color set aside for the anti-bullying campaign.
The vigil will be held at Jeffords Park in Sylvester.
