The Dougherty County Schools Building & Grounds Committee is moving closer to building new buildings for the school system.

On Wednesday the committee announced they are in the process of selecting architects for their upcoming SPLOST projects.

They anticipate having between 50-60 million dollars worth of construction projects funded through SPLOST over the next five to six years

Kenneth Dyer, Director of Finance & Operations says, "we're spending 50-60 million dollars in tax payer money and we want to make sure our selection process is transparent and to select the best possible firms to design the buildings for our students because a well designed building facilitates the educational process."

The committee must make a recommendation on who will be on the selection and screening committee by the December school board meeting.
