Saturday, the Albany-Dougherty NAACP branch hosted their Remembering Medgar Evers Membership Drive.
The membership drive is in honor of the 50th anniversary of Medgar Evers.
Evers was an outspoken member of the organization best known for fighting for advocacy, and later the target of many threats and violence that later led to his assignation on June 12, 1963.
Since then, the NAACP is asking each local chapter to increase their membership numbers by 50%. The goal is to have 500 new members national wide.
