Boy drowns in private Albany, Ga. swimming pool

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - Police say a 7-year-old Albany boy drowned in a private swimming pool.

Albany Police Department spokesperson Steve Butler says the boy and his brother were with a group of boys Monday evening when they hopped over a privacy fence of a home with a pool.

Police say the 7-year-old wandered into the deep end of the pool and drowned.

Paramedics attempted to revive the boy en route to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead around 8:40 p.m.

The body will be sent to Macon for an autopsy.
