FOX 31 spoke with Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards about a shooting that has left 13-year-old Darius Wallace dead.
Edwards says officials are still gathering information.
The child death investigation team has begun its review of the situation and ultimately how the matter is going to be resolved is based on the totality of the circumstances in the particular case, said Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards.
He says some of the information taken into consideration is whether or not the group of three or more teens were playing with a small caliber handgun when the shooting happened.
"That's what we're following up on as part of the overall interviews of the witnesses looking at forensic evidence and the entire investigation," said Edwards.
He says since everyone involved is under the age of 16, this case will be handled on a juvenile basis.
The Albany Police Department first responded to the shooting Saturday afternoon in east Albany.
The incident occurred in the 900 block of Crawford Dr.
The victim was shot in the lower portion of his stomach and was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Saturday night at 10:42 p.m. the teen was pronounced dead by hospital staff.
