Bomb detonated at the Georgia Power Dam

Dougherty County Police Captain Jimmy Sexton says that as of this morning, the incident is still under investigation by the GBI, FBI, and ATF. The GBI has retained the what was left of the device for forensic examination.

Sexton also stressed that if you have any information in the case to call the Dougherty County Police or Crime Stoppers.

FOX 31 was first on the scene Thursday evening at a pipe bomb situation at the Georgia Power Dam.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations Bomb Squad was present as well as a few law enforcement officers from the Dougherty County Police Department.

The bomb squad worked for almost 90 minutes before detonating the bomb at 8:15 shouting "fire in the hole" multiple times before an audible explosion occurred.
