Officials with the Albany Police Department have identified the man found dead in an old auto repair shop off of Old Radium Springs Road on Thursday as 55-year-old Ernest M. Cook.
Officials believe Cook was living in the old building trying to keep warm. He was found when a friend went to check on him and realized he was dead.
Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler is currently working the case to determine how Cook died.
Albany fire and police officials received a call around 4:20PM Thursday that there was deceased male inside an old auto repair shop on East Broad and Old Radium Springs.
Officials say that the man was found by a friend who had come to check on him because he had been living in the building, trying to stay warm.
They are waiting to release the name of the 55-year-old white male while they search for any remaining family members.
Officials say there were no obvious signs of foul play and the coroner is on scene trying to determine the cause of death.
