Board of Realtors names new president
Jean Shiver was installed as the president of the Albany Board of Realtors at their annual holiday luncheon.
All of the other officers on the board were installed at Wednesday's meeting, as well.
According to Sheila Brower, the President of the Georgia Realtors, the largest aim of the group is advocacy.
She also added another aim of the organization is to protect private property rights and collaborate with homeowner associations.
In May, the state group visits Capitol Hill to talk to senators regarding home ownership.
On the local level, Jean Shiver says the Board of Realtors will continue to support its community.
Shiver said, “We’ve had quite a year this year with the January tornado victims and the two storms that have come through here. In the coming year, we hope we don’t have any more of those storms but we will continue to serve our community.”
In the upcoming year the group wants to continue their partnerships with local organizations.
Shiver says they help support West Town Elementary by gifting them Thanksgiving baskets.
