Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) was awarded the Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) for his longtime support and voting record on behalf of America 's small-business owners.
"In the 112 th Congress, Representative Sanford Bishop proved that he is a champion of small business," said Dan Danner, President and CEO of NFIB. "The Guardian of Small Business Award is a legislative award given to U.S. Representatives and Senators who vote to promote and protect the right of small-business owners to own, operate and grow their businesses."

Congressman Bishop has a longstanding record of fighting for small business and job growth. Throughout his career, he has supported legislation to spur economic growth and job creation by lessening burdensome paperwork on small businesses, providing community banks with capital to increase small business lending, working to balance the budget, cutting back on unnecessary regulation, investing in innovative state small business lending programs, and providing tax incentives to purchase small business employee health insurance coverage.
