A well known movie star touched down in Albany Thursday afternoon spreading positivity to Albany State University students.

Tasha Smith got her start as a comedian but soon moved into acting.

She's worked in several Tyler Perry blockbuster hits including 'Why did I get married?' and the sequel 'Why did I get married too?'.

The movie star stopped at ASU to offer tips to students interested in theatre and advice on how to stay focused.

"There's a scripture that I still live by which is Galatians 6:9, 'Not to grow weary while doing good for in due season you shall reap if you faint not.' The key is not to quit because one day your due season is going to come," said Tasha Smith.

The actress says students must take advantage of the acting opportunities in front of them to get their start.
