Ben Hill commissioners continue to scrutinize budget
Ben Hill County Commissioners met Wednesday evening for a special called meeting on their budget.
Commissioners cut a million dollars from their budget this year and say in order to make sure they're not sacrificing too much, they meet monthly to carefully look over every cost.
"There are some areas where you can cut and there are other areas where you can't, so we wanted to make sure that we had done our job right and month by month we've looked at it," said county manager Frank Feild.
Feild says as always, there were unforeseen costs that came up when they had to budget for an additional sheriff's office employee to transport prisoners to the jail. Feild adds despite the addition, he believes they're right on track and in a good spot financially.
