Strong storms rumbled across Georgia, causing injuries, damaging some homes and knocking down trees and power lines. The National Weather Service says there were no official sightings of a tornado yesterday but some of he damage could have been caused by a tornado. At least eight people were injured in Crawford County. The storm also damaged or destroyed some homes.
There also was damage to some homes from Carrollton into Cobb County with trees and power lines down. Georgia Power says about 12-thousand people in the state were left without power temporarily because of the storms. Two-thousand Georgia Power customers in the state remained without power this morning. Severe weather howled through much of the nation yesterday, producing damaging tornadoes in the South that injured nearly 30 people and treating winter-weary parts of the Midwest to freezing rain, snow and flooding. A tornado damaged or destroyed about 200 homes and businesses in Prattville, Alabama.
