The small town of Baconton came together Friday to celebrate Independence Day with one another.
The celebration is going on until about 6 p.m. on Old State Route 3. There is a water slide for the kids, grilled hamburgers and hotdogs, ice cream and music.
Baconton Mayor Annette Morman started this day-long event several years ago to get the citizens involved and together to celebrate.
"This day means a lot to me," Mayor Morman said. "I am so elated for our veterans fighting for our country and we're here just to celebrate that great occasion."
They plan to end the night with a fireworks display.
