Autism walk brings awareness in Dawson
With April being 'Autism Awareness Month,' residents in Dawson took the streets with their annual, 'Dawson Autism Walk' this morning.
The Autism Resource Center of Terrell County held the event and says that keeping people aware is just as important as finding a cure.
"Autism is the fastest growing child developmental disability in the United States, and the numbers are constantly growing. Right now autism affects 1 in 88 children," said program director, Lisa Perry.
Perry says the turnout for the event was terrific and they look forward to putting it on again next year.
