The numbers are in for Dougherty County's 2009 Homeless Count, at least 419 people are out of home, and the number is growing.
In January, a group of volunteers collected 326 surveys from the homeless and found that almost half had full-time jobs, and 64% had been homeless before. Lauren Miller with the Southwest Georgia Regional Commission says most of the homeless in Dougherty County are not living where you'd expect.
"It's not people living on the street because in our region it's not that. It's people who are in some sort of housing whether it's permanent or just temporary," said Miller.
The full report of all nine counties that participated in the count will be presented August 13.
