Albany State University Police Department Officer Hope Ealey was honored with the "Officer of the Month" award for outstanding job performance. Ealey was selected by her immediate supervisor based on diligence and exemplary efforts in maintaining the mission of the ASU Police Department.

"Officer Ealey demonstrates an eagerness to learn new professional skills and has become a dedicated member of the ASU Police Department," said ASU Lieutenant Daniel Diamond.

Among the actions that earned Ealey "Employee of the Month" commendation are the life saving techniques she displayed on May 27. She was dispatched to the off- road scene of an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash in which the vehicle had rolled over the driver's chest, leaving the victim trapped. Using an ASU Police Department ATV, Officer Ealey aided in the expeditious transport of emergency personnel to the scene and after the victim was stabilized, assisted in offering transportation by boat to an ambulance across the river. Officer Ealey's quick actions and assistance helped the victim and emergency personnel.
