The run was put on by Damon Butler who's organizing a scholarship in honor of his mother, Ruby Faye.

Butler says Faye spent most of her time mentoring service men and women.

He adds that the scholarship will benefit students who are members of the Military Science Department by providing assistance as they prepare to become army officers.

Damon Butler says, "ROTC brings people together and the physical aspect of leadership is important and so it's an opportunity to just engage the entire community."

Twala Mathis says, "making sure that cadets that are deserving of scholarships dollars have the funds necessary to continue their education."

Butler says that the scholarship is worth $8,000.
