      ASU brings HIV and Aids awareness to students

      In recognition of National Women and Girls HIV/Aids Awareness Day, Albany State University hosted an event called "Naturally Tested". / Rheya Spigner


      In recognition of National Women and Girls HIV/Aids Awareness Day, Albany State University hosted an event called "Naturally Tested".

      Activities at the free event included a Zumba presentation, numerous vendors, natural hair care and most importantly HIV testing.

      There was also a natural hair beauty contest to balance the seriousness of matter.

      Latoya Robinson, Social Service Provider said, "the idea of it is to bring people out to get tested because everybody, getting tested is a serious matter so we wrapped it around something fun which is natural hair."

      Over 100 women came to the event and over 40 received testing for HIV.
