Arson case leaves home destroyed
A fire erupted on the 700 block of West Highland Avenue Wednesday morning.
Battalion Chief Daniel Potter with the Albany Fire Department says the home had heavy flames and took about 1,000 gallons of water to put out. No one was home at the time.
Investigator Samuel Harris with AFD says he's still checking out the scene but is certain of how it started.
Harris said, "The fire was intentionally set in the living room and the apartment was vacant; there was a lady that was moving in, we have a few leads and we're going to continue to follow them. The fire was intentionally set."
He adds he's not releasing what was used to start the fire until he investigates the situation further and completes more tests.
