Arrests made in assault of 79-year-old Worth County resident

The following information was released Friday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation:
On Thursday, November 21, 2013 agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Sylvester Office obtained criminal arrest warrants on three individuals in connection with the beating and robbery of Wendell Newell, a 79 year old Worth County resident. The Worth County Sheriff's Office was contacted after a neighbor found Mr. Newell unconscious inside his Woodcrest Road residence on November 18th.
Yesterday, Jesse James Mitchell, a 29 year old male, was taken into custody in Albany. He has been charged with one count of misdemeanor Theft by Taking and two felony counts of Theft by Taking. He is being housed in the Worth County jail. Crystal Miles, 28 years old, has been charged with one count of misdemeanor Theft by Taking, three counts of felony Theft by Taking, and one count of Robbery. Justin Ware, 28 years old, has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery,Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Tool for the Commission of a Crime, misdemeanor Theft by Taking, and three counts of felony Theft by Taking. Miles and Ware were booked into the Crisp County jail.
Mr. Newell was taken to a local hospital where he is being treated.
