Arrests made for multiple burglaries

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office and Valdosta Police Department have responded to numerous residential burglaries that have occurred primarily in the southwest portion of the county.

An officer with the Valdosta Police Department observed the group who were taken into custody on Wednesday. During a follow up investigation, a residence in the 800 block of East Brookwood Drive was searched and property from multiple burglaries were recovered.

It was discovered that the three men recently rented a room at a local motel and the vehicle that had been used by the group was impounded as evidence; both of which had stolen property.

19-year-olds Demarcus Evans and Balewa Ferguson, 17-year-old Bruce Brown and a juvenile were arrested and charged for receiving stolen property.

Sheriff Prine confirms that the investigations are ongoing and investigators will be filing burglary charges on the group in the near future.

The juvenile was detained at the regional youth detention center and the others remain in the Lowndes County Jail.
