Arrest made in weekend arson

Valdosta police have arrested one man after responding to a fire in the 700 block of Lausanne Drive.

Officials with the department say they were called out to the residence shortly before noon Sunday.

Upon their arrival, they saw smoke and flames coming out of the residence and 18-year-old Patrick Mack just outside the side door of the residence.

Valdosta fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire and learned that it started in the living room.

The property owner, Eddie McDonald, arrived on scene and told investigators that the residence was vacant.
