Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough reports that investigators with the department's criminal investigation division and agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are continuing their investigation into a homicide which occurred on Friday, April 26 on Short Street in Tift County.
Twenty-one year old Christopher Rapheal Sears died from gunshot wounds in the incident. On Monday, April 29, nineteen year old Jordan M. McCalister of Adel, Georgia was arrested on charges of Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Tampering with Evidence and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a crime. McCalister was injured by gunfire in the incident. She is alleged to have conspired with the deceased to commit a crime. McCalister remains in the Tift County Jail, no bond has been set.
Sheriff Scarbrough added that LaCharles Dennard Miller, twenty-nine years of age of Tifton, has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault in connection with a shooting that also occurred Friday on South Central Avenue in Tifton. In this incident, multiple vehicles and multiple businesses were struck by gunfire. Sheriff Scarbrough said that the investigations into both incidents are ongoing and that no further details are being released at this time.
Additional arrests are expected.
