On Sunday at approximately 8:30 p.m., an unknown male entered the Dollar General store at 1430 West Marion Avenue in Lake Park armed with a handgun and demanded money from the clerks on duty, according to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. Officials say the clerks complied with the demand and the male fled the business.
During the investigation it was discovered that the male entered the business and displayed the handgun while making his demands. The race of the male and any other details are unknown as he was completely covered.
Investigators say the male fled the business on foot but may have gotten into an awaiting vehicle; this information has not yet been confirmed.
Officers from the Lake Park Police Department and deputies from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office responded to the initial 9-1-1 call. An investigator from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Sheriff's Office was called to the scene and assumed the investigation.
