APD honors lieutenant with blood drive
The Albany Police Department wrapped up Law Enforcement Memorial Week with a special way to give back.
APD partnered with the American Red Cross for a blood drive Friday at the Law Enforcement Center.
Within the first hour, nearly 16 people, both officers and community members, stopped in to donate blood. Their goal was to bring in at least 40 donors.
The drive was also in honor of Lt. O.C. Conley, who’s currently in need of a kidney transplant.
“It’s very important for us to be team members, and team members support each other, and that’s exactly what we’re doing for Lt. O.C. Conley,” said APD PIO Phyllis Banks. “We’re just supporting him in this time that he has in his life and just as a team, making sure to let him know that we’re here for him.”
The first 15 donors with the A+ blood type also received a gift card, which were donated by The Cookie Shoppe, Blackbeard’s, Pearly’s and Harvest Moon.
