Albany police officials say the holiday season is a time when criminals often look to prey on unsuspecting targets and it's time for southwest Georgia residents to take heed.
This comes on the heels of a home invasion that occurred this past Saturday.
A man and his wife were forced inside their home by two unknown suspects before the men fled with the family's cash.
Police want all residents to be aware of their surroundings at all times and try not to make themselves a target.
"Limit the amount of valuables that you have in your possession. Don't bring any attention to yourself as far as loud jewelry or bright jewelry or stuff like that," said Albany Police Detective Eric Rozier, "Don't let strangers into your home. Call police if you see anything suspicious."
Rozier says if you are attacked do not put up a fight. This can put your life in more danger
