American Legion Post 30 celebrates Flag Day
Military veterans at American Legion Post 30 held a short program Saturday morning to recognize Flag Day.
There were three parts to the program. First, they raised and talked about the value of the flag. Then they folded the flag and talked about the meaning of each of the thirteen folds. Next the flag was retired as they showed how to properly dispose of a flag.
"We do these programs regularly all during the year," Chairman of Flag Services Marvin Mixon said. "We do it for schools, civic organizations, churches, anybody that would like for us to do so."
American Legion members say it's important for them to publicly demonstrate the respect for the flag it deserves.
