Alligator with mouth wired shut found in Ga.

MACON, Ga. (AP) - A state wildlife agent has captured an alligator with its mouth wired and taped shut in a Bibb County neighborhood.

Bibb County officials say the four-foot alligator was caught after an area resident reported seeing it in his yard on Saturday.

A woman who lives nearby says the alligator sought shelter in a culvert and was flushed out with water from a fire hydrant. She says the wildlife agent captured the alligator with an animal snare pole and planned to release it into the wild.

Sgt. Sean DeFoe of the Bibb Sheriff's office says there is a large swampy area neatby that is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including alligators.
