Alleged Colquitt County shooter claiming self defense?
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is still actively investigating a Sunday incident that left one man dead and the shooter as the only eye witness to the scene.
Dustin Carroll passed away Monday morning after being shot in the abdomen and officials say he died as a result of injuries he got during the fight.
Authorities have taken the shooter in for questioning and according to the Moultrie Observer the man is claiming self-defense.
"With self defense anybody can use appropriate force to defend against force being used against them and you can use deadly force to defend against deadly force being used against you, but you cannot initiate a conflict. In other words you cannot start a fight and then use deadly force," said Greg Edwards, Dougherty County District Attorney.
Edwards says you also cannot agree to fight and then use deadly force.
GBI officials have not confirmed that the victim is claiming self defense.
