Albany youths spend spring break volunteering

Volunteers passed out meals.

Some local young people are celebrating spring break in a very unique way.

Members of the 'Thrive' Youth Ministry of Albany's First United Methodist Church are spending their vacation doing work for the Salvation Army.

Today, volunteers helped serve meals to the hungry and the homeless at 'A Place 4 Hope.'

"It's probably really hard being homeless and I feel like it really helps them," said volunteer Chris Durbin. "It gives them hope and makes them know that people care about them and love them. I feel like it really helps their spirit."

'A Place 4 Hope' is a resource center that provides the homeless with tools they need to find a job and get back on their feet.
