Albany Tech to offer Cyber Crime Investigation major
Albany Technical College is offering an all new major for students this fall that'll help law enforcement all over Southwest Georgia.
This Cyber Crime Investigation degree is one of the first offered of all the Technical College Systems of Georgia schools.
It'll teach students about cyber systems, how to collect evidence, testify as expert witnesses and more.
Kenn Singleton, Department Chair of the Law Enforcement Technology program at ATC, said the program comes after state local and federal agencies said they needed more experts in this field.
"From research we found that most often the criminal justice field is a little bit behind. They’re playing catch up when it comes to different types of crimes. Cyber crimes is one of those type of crimes that they need to enhance their skills so by us putting together this program…it's going to enhance these officers abilities to combat this type of crime," said Singleton.
The program takes 64 credit hours to complete and 90% online.
It'll be offered in this August.
