      Albany Tech student named G.T.C.S. student of the year

      An Albany Tech Student has been names the Georgia Technical College System of Georgia's Students of the Year.

      Aamire Greene, a telecommunication student was announced the winner at an awards banquet last night in Atlanta.

      Greene, a retired military veteran who served 3 tours of duty in Iraq, competed against students from Georgia's 25 technical colleges.

      He will now travel the state acting as ambassador for the Technical college system of Georgia.

      "I'm very excited about getting out into the community and expressing the importance of getting an education, because with an education comes a strong nation and with a strong nation comes a strong economy," said Greene.

      The last time an Albany Tech Student was named student of the year was in 2007 when Keldrique Lofton took home the award.
