Albany Tech signs agreement with fellow Georgian university

SPSU and Albany Tech leaders say the best part about the agreement is that students can now earn their degree and enter the workforce without ever leaving Albany, which will help boost the economy and workforce within the town. / Colby Gallagher

On Tuesday afternoon, Albany Technical College signed an agreement with Southern Polytechnic State University that will allow students to earn a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Operations.

Students that earn their associate's degree with Albany Tech will now be able to transfer to SPSU and take two years of online courses to earn their 4-year degree.

SPSU and Albany Tech leaders say the best part about the agreement is that students can now earn their degree and enter the workforce without ever leaving Albany, which will help boost the economy and workforce within the town.

Jeffrey Ray with SPSU says often when kids go away for college, they don't come back so this is a great way to keep our young workforce in Albany to perform jobs like plant managing and more.
