In 2012 Albany Technical College received a grant worth $1.2 million to go towards a specific area of study, of their choosing. ATC put that money towards their engineering programs.

Friday the U.S. Secretary of Labor, Thomas Perez, held a teleconference in Atlanta with Albany Tech. officials and engineering students back in Albany to see what they've done with the money.

At Albany Tech., part of that grant money went towards getting achievement coaches for the students in the program. Student Kentera Cole said, "they're very helpful, the main thing is they keep us informed on a lot of things happening in the media and future endeavors and actually career paths. They help us get a nice career path started."
