Albany Technical College held a press conference Thursday morning to officially announce the start of their new Registered Nurse (RN) associate degree program.
The school currently offers a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) associate degree, but the start of the RN program will allow students to take the next step in their nursing career.
The RN program is six semesters long and officials with the college say they will be offering a flexible schedule of classes, including night classes.
Albany Technical College President Dr. Anthony Parker says it's important to offer these classes at flexible times because many of their students will be working and have to work around that schedule. Parker adds that it's important to make it as easy as possible for nurses who want to continue their education to do so.
The program will start in the Fall of 2013, but the college is taking applications now.
