Junior and senior high school level teams competed in plant identification, problem solving, general knowledge and plant disorders. The Team Challenge was conducted using the same criteria as local and state FFA Floriculture CDE.
The competition was set up to prepare students to compete on the local and statewide level.
This is a good chance for them to practice and prepare for those competitions. They're able to win awards and they're also able to see our department. It gives us a good chance to showcase Albany Tech, said George Paul, Chairman of the Environmental Horticulture Department for Albany Tech.
At the end of the competition, trophies and ribbons were awarded to first through third place teams.
Albany Tech is planning to hold a landscaping competition for the FFA in January 2013.
