Students, faculty and staff members came together to honor and remember those who died while serving this country.

Albany Technical College hosted a Memorial Day ceremony that was filled with encouraging words, songs of worship and prayer.

Lieutenant Colonel Retired Donald Gray Jr. spoke to the community, and said it's important to remember these heroes every day.

"The best way we can honor them is by doing our best in our community, in our country, in our schools," Gray said.

Memorial Day is roughly one month after Southwest Georgia's 1st Lieutenant Weston Lee died in Iraq, making it a rough holiday for some.

"Know that we are with you," Gray said. "This nation cares. Your community cares. [Lee] will never be forgotten. It's not just to be remembered on one day but always."
