Electronic engineering students at Albany Technical College now have a new path open to them after an agreement was signed with Fort Valley State University on Monday.

The articulation agreement is in the electronic engineering technology program. The goal of the agreement is to provide graduate students with an Associate of Applied Sciences in the electronic engineering program at Albany Tech, the possibility to continue at Fort Valley and earn their Bachelor of Science in electronic engineering technology.

"Well, this is going to be a very, very good opportunity for the graduates of the engineering technology program," said Manuel Hall, Department Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineer Technology program at Albany Tech.

"It enables us by the partnership to have a greater contribution to workforce development. And it's a win-win situation for our students in our communities," added Fort Valley State President Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith.

As part of the agreement, both schools have to maintain their accreditations and they had to come together on what courses are allowed to be transferred.

The articulation agreement is for a five year period, after which it could be renewed by both schools every three years.
