Albany State undergoing a color shift: Green

The Albany State University "Go Green" campaign kicked off with a campus wide clean up early Saturday morning.

The "Keep ASU Beautiful" committee is the university's newest way of upholding their mission of having a cleaner and greener environment.

"We also wanted to do this event to encourage students to clean up the campus and preserve our campus for future generations and I feel like it starts today" said Keep ASU Beautiful committee member Camille Houston.

Keep Albany Dougherty Beautiful and Life Link of Georgia have teamed up with ASU to promote it's a new initiative.

"There are eight zones here at the University and there are different organizations, staff and faculty members that have adopted these zones and they're going to be responsible for keeping them clean throughout the academic year. We're real excited about that," said ASU Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Edgar Berry.

One ASU student helping out today has given her a sense of pride for her university community.

"Here at Albany State University, we want to take ownership of our campus and follow-up with the three "C"'s that were taught which are "Campus, Community, and Character" and basically that means we need to start at home before we go out in the community," said participant Asia Lovecook.
