Local colleges used Monday as a way to celebrate Veteran's Day on their campuses.

Monday morning students at Albany State University honored those who have served our country with a small ceremony outside with Lieutenant Commander Christopher Williams of the United States Navy as the key note speaker.

Across town, Darton State College celebrated the day with their own observance of both living and dead veterans at an event called "Darton Salutes: A Tribute to Our Veterans."

The college took time to list the 200+ names of Georgia soldiers that have been killed throughout the War on Terrorism and also commemorate those who are still among us.

Director of Military and Adult Education Valerie McCarley says it's important to recognize both those who gave the ultimate sacrifice and those who are still with us because they dedicated their lives to our country.
