      Albany sees growth spurt during tough economy

      If you've been traveling around Albany lately you might've noticed a lot of new buildings going up.

      If you've been traveling around Albany lately you might've noticed a lot of new buildings going up.

      That's because officials with the Planning & Development Department says we're seeing a big boom during this time of year which is unusual.

      They say the turn around of the economy has a lot to do with rise new construction.

      Tracy Hester, Senior Manager for Planning & Development Services says, "Albany is situated in such a unique location. It's 90 miles from to any other larger city so we really have an opportunity to draw all these rural communities into our shopping network."

      Hester adds that some of the businesses you can expect is Ulta Beauty, Kauffman Tires, and Holiday Inn Express.
